![]() ![]() ![]() The task was undertaken by the Editor, not because he entirely agreed with the writers in all their premises or conclusions, but because he was persuaded, after a careful perusal, that the work contained a fund of original thought on subjects new and old, a vast variety of most interesting anecdote, the evidence of most patient search after truth, and a considerable amount of information on the science of Geology, which rendered it highly worthy of publication, apart from the truth or falsity of the new science which it brought before the public. A few months ago, he was solicited by them to edit this Work for publication in Great Britain, which he consented to do.
